I graduated from UCLA and earned both my Masters in Psychology and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University (accredited by the American Psychological Association). I completed a full-time predoctoral internship at Childrens Hospital – Los Angeles, an APA-accredited program affiliated with USC’s Keck School of Medicine, and my post-doctoral training at the Child and Family Guidance Clinic in Northridge.

Then I spent several years in private practice in São Paulo, Brazil, where I worked primarily with the English-speaking expat community. (My wife and I had moved to São Paulo to be near her family. We returned to So Cal in 2015 with our son, who is now a teen himself.)

When I’m not in the office, I enjoy photography, playing tennis and chess, going out to the movies, and spending time with my family, which includes my wife and son and our Boston Terrier, Nina.

    My Experience

I am a licensed clinical psychologist and certified cognitive therapist with over 20 years of clinical experience. Originally from the San Fernando Valley, I graduated from UCLA and earned my masters and doctorate at Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology.

After becoming licensed in California, I lived for many years in Brazil, returning to the U.S. with my family in 2015. While living abroad, I maintained a private practice that catered primarily to the English-speaking expatriate community of São Paulo, including high level executives from all over the world and American diplomats and their families.

The opportunity to live abroad for so many years gave me a unique firsthand insight into the cultural adaptation process and its many challenges, as well as providing me with a deep understanding of the role of culture in how we perceive and interact with the world

I employ a cognitive-behavioral approach in my work with my clients and am certified as a diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies. Therapy sessions are interactive and collaborative, as my clients and I work toward treatment goals that we have decided on together.

I combine evidence-based strategies with a warm interpersonal style to help my clients overcome significant difficulties such as depression, anxiety, anger, and social problems. I invite you to glance through my website to get more of a sense of who I am and what I do. If you have any questions about whether or not I can be of help, I am happy to offer a free phone consultation to discuss your concerns.
